"Engaging and informative, Leland James on 'Reading and Appreciating Poetry' is more dialogue than your average presentation. Using a mix of poetry from his own body of work as well as poetry of the greats, James invites attendees to discover the essential elements and styles of poetry, and so armed, encourages them to develop their own poetry tastes. A rewarding experience for all ages."
—Amy Barritt, Librarian, Traverse /city, MI Area District Library

Yesterday, the poet, Leland James, came the library, giving an expansive overview of elements of poetry appreciation accompanied by readings of examples from his own and others' poetry. The library and the participants received an erudite and entertaining review of everything we ever knew or thought we knew about poetry, making the prospect of reading poetry a more likely and pleasant experience.
—Suzanne, Asst. Librarian – The Suttons Bay Bingham District Library
“Hearing Leland read, the inflection in his voice, made the poems come alive. It was truly a magical evening.”
—Mary Sue Woolsey, Attendee
